Dominican Republic Updates Travel Entry Requirements Dominican Republic by Corey Grant - Travel Agent - May 1, 2021May 1, 20210 As COVID-19 vaccines become more prevalent, the Dominican Republic has announced updates to its travel entry requirements. Officials in the Dominican Republic revealed the Responsible Tourism Recovery Plan would no longer require travelers to provide a negative coronavirus test upon arrival. Instead, aleatory breath tests will be administered to between 3-15 percent of travelers arriving at airports or other ports of entry. The only exceptions for the tests are children under the age of five and flight crew members. All passengers arriving in the Dominican Republic will also need to perform a temperature check, with anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test being required to isolate at authorized locations. If ships can certify that 98% of their crew and 95% of their passengers are vaccinated, they won’t need to do test cruises before restarting passenger operations, the letter said. The CDC estimates that passengers could be boarding cruise ships in U.S. waters as soon as mid-July depending on how quickly cruise companies meet the agency’s requirements. CDC’s New Testing Requirement Does Not Affect Travel to Hawaii COVID Hawaii by Corey Grant - Travel Agent - April 26, 2021April 26, 20210 In response to the new rule from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requiring all air passengers entering the U.S. to present a negative COVID-19 test, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau issued a statement clarifying that “despite not being part of the contiguous United States land mass, Hawaii is very much a State and not subject to these new CDC international travel and testing restrictions.” Hawaii’s Safe Travels Program, however, does have a testing requirement, but program participants who present a negative COVID-19 test are not subject to Hawaii’s 10-day quarantine.
