All three are key homeports for Carnival Cruise Line and the company plans to concentrate its energies on this trio of major cruise ports in terms of restarting operations this summer. Carnival had previously announced that it plans to sail Carnival Horizon from Miami, and Carnival Vista and Breeze from Galveston when it resumes passenger service in July as its first ships to carry guests again post-COVID. Additional reduced restrictions, according to Discover Puerto Rico, include increased capacities for businesses, raised from 30 to 50 percent; the removal of a mask requirement for fully vaccinated individuals in parks and beaches; and permission to consume alcoholic beverages in pools and beaches. After news that the Senate had passed a measure that would allow U.S.-based cruise ships to sail to Alaska and bypass Transport Canada’s ban, Royal Caribbean on Friday announced that it would start sailing beginning on July 19 with Serenade of the Seas out of Seattle. Serenade will sail a series of sailings with stops in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Endicott Arm, and Dawes Glacier. Serenade will then be joined by Ovation of the Seas starting on August 13, also from Seattle. That ship will sail an itinerary that includes stops at Glacier National park, Juneau, and Skagway.
